AAPA Attends Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative Meeting
AAPA attended the most recent Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) stakeholders meeting in July which focused on exploring public and private initiatives to advance the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). A prominent theme of the discussions was the integration of behavioral health into the PCMH model.
AAPA is a member organization of PCPCC and supports the medical home concept as a means to improve the quality of patient care. AAPA believes PAs are critical to the success of medical homes and the PCMH principles, which can apply to any setting where continuing, longitudinal primary or specialty care is provided.
The PCPCC is a coalition of more than 400 organizations representing the nation’s business leaders, consumer groups, organizations representing primary care physicians and other health care stakeholders.
AAPA’s Clinical and Scientific Affairs Council will be publishing an article in an upcoming issue of JAAPA on the PCMH.
